Aims:

  • To practise giving advice (you should/I shouldn't)
    *To learn how to give advice for common health problems.
  • To read advice about coughs and colds.
  • To practise a conversation with someone who is unwell.
    presentation:
    1- Ask pupils to open the Pupil's Book on page 46. Read the rubric for activity 1.
    2- Ask pupils to look at the seven pictures; give them time in pairs to discuss what they
    can see in each picture.
    3- Put pupils in pairs and let them think about what Taher's mother might say he
    should do.
    4- Put pupils in pairs. Have them practise the conversation; they can then swap so
    that each pupil gets to play both roles.
    Language:should / shouldn't + infinitive.
    What is matter?

    Vocabulary:
    go to bed, eat lots of fruits, go to a doctor,
    onion, lemon, rash.

  • To practise giving advice using you should/shouldn't
    *To select a suitable verb for giving advice in particular
    situations.
  • To read an email from a friend and give advice.
    *To look at reflexive pronouns (myself, himself, herself,
    yourself, etc.)
  • To learn a short rhyme.
    Presention:

    Ask pupils to look at page 48 of the Pupil's Book and
    read the title of the lesson together.
    Get pupils to look at the pictures and to think about
    which verb matches the situation in the picture.
    Pupils work in pairs to complete the sentences.
  • Explain that pupils are going to read an email written to
    them from a friend.
  • Divide the reading activity into its three paragraphs.
  • Ask pupils to open their Activity Book on page 40 and
    look at Activity 1.
    Vocabulary:
    dentist, finger, feel, sick, wear, dizzy,
    break, burn, touch, buy.
